Statement of Intent.
What is your chosen theme and why have you chosen to study this?
The chosen theme of this topic is called Perfection, Flaws, Ideals, Compromises.
What research do you intend to carry out based on this theme?
I want to do a variety of different research for this project because I want to create the images to the best standard that I can possible do. I first will research a variety of different artist and photographers, I want to do this to explore different ideas using ideas that the photographers and artists have used and the next research I want to do is research about different ways editing and also displaying the images that I do not know yet.
What photo shoots do you intend to complete during this project to help explore the topic chosen?
I want to do a selection of different photo shoots, these photo shoots will be of interpretations of photographers'/artists' work, my own ideas of the theme, different techniques and a re-shoot for the photo shoot of my own ideas. These photo shoots will help me develop my images and my work to the highest standard that I possibly can get it to.
Which artists, photographers, galleries, do you intend to research into to help support this project?
The photographers that I plan to research about are Martin Parr, Irving Penn, Elliot Erwitt and Richard Avedon. I want to use these photographers to develop my own images and I want to be inspired by their work.
What techniques with the camera, darkroom and Photoshop would you like to use to help develop the theme?
Through out the project, I plan to use a variety of different techniques which mainly will be manual and digital edits on the images. The manual edits include scratching on the images and adding stitches to the images. The digital edits will be edited on Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Bridge; these digital edits will include cropping, repeating the images. Including these edits, I will be using the camera to edit the images; such as adjusting the shutter speed and adjusting the aperture.
What do you hope to learn more about in doing this project?
I hope to learn different types of manual and digital techniques for editing images by the end of the project. I want to learn these so I can use them for future images that I am editing and how I can improve the images.
What do you see the final format as being?
I can imagine my final outcome being something that involves manual and digital techniques, I would like to use a variety of different techniques in the final outcome which will mean that I will need to explore a lot throughout the project. It could be a 2D or a 3D piece, I will not know until the end of the project where I have developed my ideas for what it could be.
